hi all, i went to do a practice launch in my celica and smelt the clutch so i stopd and took of normaly. its a 1990 gt4 all-track st185, and meant to run 12's down the qaurter mile. its running 16pound boost, and has a hiflowed turbo, if this helps, and a brand new heavy duty clutch. my question is, would the clutch need adjusting to stop it from slippn for a launch? or would it be due to running 16pound? any help greatley appreciated so i can get it sorted out, thanks. and it was at 5grand rev i tried to do the launch at, wich i was told it would handle that.

who put the clutch in. they might not of adjusted the clutch properly. when you take your foot off the clutch pedal it might be still engaging the clutch, it will be fine for normal driving but when the extra pressure is applied it can't hold it. just a guess. take it back to the people who installed it or bought it from and ask questions. the new clutch might take a little bit of slipping to bed in properly. just another guess.

thanks for the info evan, iv now realised the problem after also asking some otha people, they said the clutch bein heavy duty needs a bit of warming up, i 4got to say i tried the launch not long after warming up the car and driving only 100 metres. so now wen i drive the car for a little and go thru the gears abit to warm it up it launches awsome. im glad it was nothin major.
