I have resently finished a scale model of a Ta22 Celica, and I have some tail light red clear paint left over so I did this.

Also I pulled my diff out, as I stuffed up by replacing the front seal and not replacing the front crush bearing. Now there is no preload and it was getting noisy. But pulling it out found other problems. The shockies where stuffed as was the brakes. So I have rebuilt the brakes, and bought Holden shockies that are 60mm shorter than the factory ones. But the big news is this......................................... Thats right a 20 Valve 4AGE. I have total stripped it down and have found it has had water sitting in it for some time. So a total rebuild is in order. The plan is to build a full Tomei engine, top to bottom. I will be keeping it N/A, with an After market Computer.

I have been reading up on 20 valves and they do seem to be fairly strong. I came to the decision that the Tomei bottom end is not needed, all I need to do is a blue print, cams, valve springs, head bolts, TRD head gasket, port the head and a good computer will be a great mark up on the 76KW I have now with the 4AGE in the car now.
I have a set of equal lenght 4 into 2 into 1 header on my current 4age. I'm hoping these will fit up to the 20v without to much modification. I have also work out that the stock distributor will need to be converted to a coil pack arrangement. As I have 11cm of space between the head and the fire wall. Does anyone know of any kit that will fit up to the 20v? No i will not cut into the fire wall to make it fit. The water system will be ok as is. I will reroute the water pipes under the exhaust manifold, with a heat wrap of course, to the front of the engine to the rad. I will need to reposition a sensor for it to fit, but everything else is sorted.

GT Garage got the parts for my Diff and started to dismantle it, what they found was a botched up job from how ever rebuilt it before. Both bearing sleeves on the carrier had been hole punched hundreds of time to try and strech the metal to keep the bearing on the sleeves. Also they had tried to squash the crush spacer down so they could save $20 on a new one, that didn't work so they put 3 washers in there to get it to crush up a bit more when put back together. So I have taken It to Koostra's to get them to resleeve the carrier, then it will go to a transmission place to be put together. why must everything have issues, at least I will have a nice new rebuilt diff !!!!!

I pick up my diff Friday......But, Friday night I was flowing from both ends all night. I woke up the next morning feeling ok. Like a trooper I got stuck in to putting my diff back in the car. But with the loss of fluids from the nights episodes, my hands kept cramping up and and the fact that I was very dehydrated, made for very slow progress. But I got it in, today I only have a few little things to do, fill it with oil, hand brake cables, brake bleed, and test drive.

So the car is mobile again..... yippie. But all the old issues where annoying me .......... SO, I had a play around with the throttle body without the pod filter and pipe on today and found that there is a hole that goes down to the power steering vacuum( I think thats what it is). This hole was sucking huge amounts of air, even though the outlets where all blocked off on the outside. so I stuck my finger over the hole and the car ran perfect. So off with the throttle body and off with the cover and made a new gasket to block that hole. Put it all back together and the car idles perfect, and drives smooth without cutting out. I'm exstatic!!!!!!!!! This problem has plagued this car the whloe time. and has made the car very unpleasent to drive. I can see a whole lot more hours behind the wheel now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
while I was on a high from fixing the idle problem, I though it was about time to fix the thermo fan as well. It was hard wired to start when the car started. This was also annoying me, very noisey. So I found some wire and ran it from the fan to an old rear demist switch under the dash. As my rear screen doesn't have rear demist I thought it would be a perfect place for my thermo fan switch. An added bonus is it lights up when its on. So overall the day went very well. The car seem very quiet now, no fan wizzing away and the engine is not reving it head off. peace and quiet. I won't have to have the stereo up so loud now to drown out the noise.
