Ok i haven't posted in a while. Project sr20 is starting to come together. I have bought a hilux diff rn20. Its the first model hilux built and the diff is very rare. They are very sort after by small Toyota, datsun and escort guys as the axles don't need shortening. My sr20det is been built and my ke70 crossmember is been built by a guy who makes them in Victoria. Im about to order t3 coilovers, 4 link system, panhard bar, camber tops. Im getting ae86 coilovers that suit ta22 so i can buy a bracket that lets me run Mazda rx7 fc calipers on Honda civic rotors for the front. I will also be running s13 brakes on the rear. The gearbox will either be a steel case celica box with automatic bell housing and custom adapter plate or a supra box. With the steel case Im hoping i can use the same gearbox mount and don't have to mover gearstick down. My engine builder has the steel case gearbox as they are rare.

ok I have a few photos. it was actually relative easy to find the holes. I used a bit of clear plastic to find and mark the holes. I drilled the holes a bit bigger than the bolts so I can adjust it easier. there is a gap on the right of the spoiler only because the bolt is not in it.

the lock looks a bit off only because the bolts are not tight. I need to get longer bolts and different washers before I tighten it all up. once i have painted it I am thinking about making the back crease jet black, but I don't know how to do it. any suggestions? like this

Easy, paint the black in first don't worry about getting the edges right, Then once that is dry Mask up the black section with paper, and using the masking tape carefully follow the line around the spoiler where you want the black to finish and the purple to start. then paint the whole spoiler.

I was at work today when I saw an autobarn catalog that had SAAS gauges for $44 each. usual price is $60-70 each. so I couldn't help my self. I bought a volt, oil temp/press and a boost/vacuum gauge. they all come with everything you need for easy installation and they turn 4 different colours with the push of a button. I made a guage hold last year in college when I was bored. I don't know whether to rap it in black leather, carbon fibre rap, paint it gloss black or just keep it looking polished. any suggestions? the gauge holder is made for 4 but I will just cut a bit off and round it to fit 3. it will go under where the original radio goes. to the left of the steering wheel. .

Have you found a money tree, if so share!!! The colour is up to you, it's your car, I personally would go black.

Its just my new job. Still not sure. I like the shiny finish but it might stand out way to much. I want it to look like it should be there instead of just chucking it in for just looks. I might paint the outer bit black and keep the middle sort of bit shiny

this is an idea of the gauge set up. I cut the other bit off and just coloured in the outer bit with permanent marker to see what it looks like. I will get my polishing wheel onto the metal part and paint the outer bit black. then clear coat the whole thing so it doesn't rust and not look shiny. Thursday I pick up my axels from RPM engineering, I had them converted to 4 stud and new bearing kit. so one bearing by itself is $70 but a bearing kit that has both axel bearings, seal...etc is $50, how does that work? that's ABS for you.

The old girl won't know what hit her with the extra power. Did you measure the width of the hulix diff compared to the celica one are they the same, or a little bit wider. Also is it an LSD? Those gauges will match really well with the the white faced originals. Hows the painting of the spoiler going?

The hilux diff is actually 15mm shorter both sides which will help my rear disc brakes. The axels are 10mm thicker that ta22. Im after a 3:8 diff centre with hopefully lsd. The spoiler is something to do in spare time. I have got the longer bolts but just waiting on some better weather. I like the gauges like that so i will paint them like it.

Got my axles today. They did an awesome job converting them to four stud. The even did all my bearing kit for free and painted them up. Does anybody remember when i bought those spacers and longer wheel studs? Well i got them to put them in. Good thing i hang on to them. I will post a picture tomorrow. I have also found some ae86 hubs at a cheap price. The guy from techno toy tuning has them at 150 us i think which is a good price. So it means i can get the ae86 coilovers and buy the after market bracket to run the rx7 calipers and for the rotors. Auto barne has them for 30 plus shipping in cost and for extra can get them in slotered or drilled. Also the engine builder is giving me his old s13 rear brakes as he was only going to chuck them out. Don't know the condition but its free.

Bit of news on the spoiler. My pop is painting the whole thing as i don't have much time and its giving him sometime likes to do. He helped me paint the front spoiler and boot. With me out of the way he has done an absolute wicked job of painting the boot and spoiler. He has got the black on the back of it perfect. And it looks really good before he has wet and dry and polished. Very happy. It will turn out great. Have just sent an email for the t3 coil overs plus the t3 guys sell ae86 hubs which is a big bonus
