hi all thought i would update you with my change of plans. after purchasing the 1ggte and the supra 5 speed box and bellhousing and spending a heap of cash on getting the 1ggte rebuilt and perfect for eleanor, I have now decided to scrap the idea and go the a holden v8 253, afterall eleanor is meant to be a V8 and a 253 is cheaper than a ford v8 lol. SOOOOO ive got one. ive sold the old 18RG to a bloke in railton who is putting it in his Mrs ra23. and now im going to sell the 1GGTE with or without the supra 5 speed box, if any one is interested let me know please as i really want it gone to help fund some parts i need to buy before installing the v8. located in launceston and can be ready for collection any day. pm me for phone no. or email me simon.rootes@hotmail.com
cheers and keen to hear thoughts about my plan change.

That's sounds like a great idea. A 253 is the same block as a 308, i would go a 308

Well my latest update. Sold my 1ggte for $1300 and box for $360 so now have enough to finish Eleanor off. 253 on stand today and pulled apart to clean up, engine bay all cleaned up for painting tomorrow , ordered new chrome heads and bolts for the engine , extractors on the way just need to try and customise the sump to fit on the crossmember (battle) and things are all go! Hoping to have engine fitted and running by June. Sent from my HTC_PN071 using proboards

Sounds great. By memory holdens don't have a front sump. That will be tricky to modify it for a front sump crossmember. The oil pickup can't really be moved in the sump. I have heard of people putting the crossmember in back to front to counter this but i don't think its that easy. It should have a wicked looking engine bay when your finished. Keep up the awesome work

How does it fit with all the steering box? The block is bigger than average. You should move the thread to the members rides

Need ASAP 18r series engine or something similar to easily get Eleanor going. Need desperate , I have a 1GGT E I'm willing to swap or a 253 v8 . Basically I've ran out of cash for the conversion with Eleanor and my only option is to go back to standard as I am getting married soon and need Eleanor in wedding. If you have anything that can help please text or call me 0400068717
