Hey guys, some of you might know me, I've been mad into Toyota's for as long as I can remember. I've had a few cars over the years: a couple of 185s GT-fours, 13b ra23 Celica, JZX100 Chaser, AE71 corolla wagon, TA63 Turbo Celica, Leyland Mini Clubman, a fully sick JE camira. Currently I own a: ST205 Group A Rallye GT-four Celica that I've had for 7 years ST162 White Lightning Celica that is the daily, that I've had for about 4 months. 1972 Leyland Mini Clubman that I bought about a month ago, I'm doing it up to make a sweet daily. Here is some pics, I won't bore you with pics of the previous cars, here is some of the current ones. This is the mini when I first got it, it's come a long way since then. Here is the pride and joy, currently awaiting a new manifold (6boost), reason being the old 6boost manifold was made to fit a 38mm ultra gate, which with the gt35 was too small, so a new manifold is being made to suit a 50mm progate.

Yeah it was in Fast Fours, it was that editors first edition, and I've found out (through his replacement who almost bought the chaser) that he didn't last long, lol.
Yeah I used to live on Clarence street, only moved from there a week ago.

So it appears I have two usernames on this forum haha. What I was going to post I'll just post here I'm now in my 11th year of owning a Celica, current cars are: ST205, had this for 9 years this year, makes 307kw atw, it goes ok. RA28, I've owned this for a good 10 days, picked it up for the grand total of $2000, running registered and pretty well complete. It had a couple of serious dents in the passenger sides which I roughly knocked out. Plans are daily for now and just slowly fix it up over time. Good points: Body is great for the age Chrome bits are fantastic Runs well, doesn't have any leaks (anymore) Bad: Hatch is riddled with cancer. Couple of small interior pieces missing (steering column surround, heater knobs etc) Mark X 350s GRX133 I bought this a bit over 12 months ago, currently going through complaince, the reason it's taking so long is because the emissions facility are muppets and incompetent. Have a look a the wiki page (I wrote a good deal of it) for info on them. It's currently the only one in Aus.

Yeah I've driven the X for the grand total of about 2kms, it's so glorious.
Yeah the 28 was a steal, it's a good bus.
Actually here will be the place to ask.
When I got the 28 it had a shit battery, so I got the super awesome one out of my then current daily and put in it. However after doing this when I'm driving the charge light randomly flashes on and off. If there is a light load on the electrical system (park lights, blower etc) then it doesn't flash.
The only thing I can put it down to is a wire which goes nowhere. It's black with a yellow stripe on the passenger side. It comes out of the loom basically where the wire to the carb comes from. It did have exposed wires but I've since covered them for now.
Before you ask yeah i have cleaned each and every battery/ earth connection and even added extra earths.
The cold start doesn't work at all on the car, is that what the wire is for?

For now just fix up little things as I go. Then when the Mark X gets here either sell it, or put it in the shed and let future Mitch decide. Here is a pic of the area. As you can see there is no wires pulled out of any plugs, no wires broken or missing from the reg (and none are missing from the alternator either but you can't see that from the pic. How many wires are supposed to go to the carb? Anyone know where the black and yellow stripe wire is supposed to go. It looks like the wire runs back up the loom and into the guard

I think I've come to the conclusion that it's for the auto choke.

I pulled the air filter assembly off the carb and the choke plate had fallen down and was on an angle inside the carb. No idea where the screws are, I couldn't see them anywhere.
I pulled off the vac canister for the secondary. It looks to be in good nick, I softened the spring a bit so it opens a bit earlier, and gave it a retune. Naturally it drives worlds better now.
