Hello all. Just a question to see what people think is best out of rubbing back or soda blasting a car? I'm going to do a bare metal respray. I've never had a car sprayed from bare metal, so any advice would be sweet. Cheers.

if u get it soda blasted and ur car has rust it may turn into swiss cheese looking metal and u will have to cut and weld patches but at least u will have a rust free car and ur nice painted wont have bubbles from rust for a long time.

Yeah, I've heard that. There is hardly any rust in the car, but I guess there is always shit you can't see.

You would think that the paint job will last longer from a bare 100% rust free base. i suppose its a choice between time and money

Yeah, I think you've got a good point there. I'm going to start on the doors, bonnet and guards first. I'll do them by hand as see how we go.

I used a wire wheel on the grinder to strip my car, It's very quick doesn't damage the metal, But your hand cop a beating from the vibration, and the dust is a bitch too. So ear muffs and face mask is a must, which I hate working in. It's better than sanding, I think. Or paint stripper is another option, getting high as a kite with the fumes, and trying to clean it off the metal at the end has to be perfect or it will effect the paint when reapplied.
